This is directly following her first appearance in the pages of Flashpoint. She can be seen standing outside when Charlie Keen watches Black Canary meet Barbara Gordon. Pandora makes a cameo appearance to witness the events of this storyline, as she does all #1 issues published as part of The New 52.Katana anxiously calls Canary and reveals that Cahill was not the real Choke, having received this message from her husband's spirit inside her sword. The team goes home rattled, and Black Canary finally reconnects with Batgirl as her friend. His telepathic hold on the group is too strong for them to resist, so Katana neatly decapitates him. Trevor Cahill is revealed to have been Choke all along, and they take him to a room for private interrogation after defeating his agents. They begin drawing Cleaners into the open and deactivating them with the help of Cahill, forcing Choke to launch a massive attack and reveal himself. Starling is tricked into attending the wrong meeting place, where she is shot at on sight by a group of mercenaries. ![]() They meet together again when Canary figures out that the Cleaners are helpless sleeper agents, although Batgirl still does not remember their last team-up. Batgirl is missing, and the Birds struggle to account for this time-skip. After being greeted by Choke's telepathic voice in their minds, they wake up outside with their memories erased. Batgirl agrees to help the team for such a wide-scale mission, and they infiltrate the Cleaners' Gotham City headquarters. They determine that the drug is not just used to kill people, but also enables mind control and surveillance. The Birds realize that the next target are a judge and his aide, although their train-mounted rescue operation fails when Canary is revealed to have been infected. It's explained that the Cleaners are agents of a man named Choke using a drug to trigger explosives in minds of his targets, activated by a nursery rhyme. Ivy is reluctantly accepted and interrogates their prisoner, although he blows himself up after revealing their hideout. Poison Ivy arrives to announce that she has accepted Canary's invitation to the team. They slaughter these men and take one alive for questioning. Their investigation of Keen's death leads them to an experimental drug research facility at the suggestion of scientist Trevor Cahill, where they're ambushed by a group of Cleaners again. Katana joins the team, although they believe she is mentally unstable because she takes advice from her sword. This leads to a massive shoot-out against assassins known as the Cleaners in a church, although Keen later spontaneously explodes while they're putting him onto a secure plane. They track down a Gotham Gazette reporter named Charlie Keen who's been investigating them, in the hopes of finding his informant. Now Babs and Dinah must face the consequences And to make matters worse, the Birds are hunted by their most powerful foe. Barbara Gordon is asked to join the team as Batgirl, but declines and suggests Katana instead. Previously, ‘Vikings” Katheryn Winnick was favored for the role, but she is apparently no longer being considered.Black Canary and her friend Starling form a black-ops team called the Birds of Prey while they're running from the law, with Starling on government watch-lists and Canary wanted for a murder she didn't commit. Also according to the latest buzz Jodie Comer (‘Killing Eve’), Blake Lively (‘Green Lantern’) and Vanessa Kirby (‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’) are all in the running to play Black Canary. She was also at one time The Question, but she probably won’t have that alter ego in ‘Birds of Prey’.Īlexandra Daddario (‘Baywatch’) is reportedly being eyed to play Huntress, contradicting earlier reports that WB was seeking a person of color for that role. She has previously been depicted as a uniformed beat cop, then a police detective. Renee Montoya is also referred to as a superhero, but she was reportedly going to be part of the Gotham City Police’s forensics department. Apparently, Harley will appear as a hero. As it stands, this is a rather odd mix of characters. It was also previously hinted that the villain of this movie might be The Penguin, but that doesn’t seem to be the case either. ![]() But this synopsis doesn’t mention her at all. The most recent word was that she would appear in this movie but not as Batgirl. Barbara has been a member of the ‘Birds of Prey’ as both Oracle and Batgirl. There is one major name missing– Barbara Gordon. ![]() “After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.” Now, it looks as though the film’s synopsis has been revealed: Margot Robbie will finally reprise her role as Harley Quinn in this movie, to be directed by Cathy Yan. Could ‘Birds of Prey’ actually be creeping closer to reality? It seems so.
